About me

I began writing at an early age. It was not something I went looking for, but rather it was always within me to write. The gift of writing expressed itself in a variety of ways, always astonishing me with the length and depth of it, and the powerful words that somehow came cascading out of my pencil. I once wrote that it is as if the words are somewhere up above my elbow just waiting to be brought to the page via my pencil, my favourite medium!

It has been an immensely rewarding process to use this tool, this gift for the benefit of others, as I write about humanitarian aid, volunteer projects and personal travel experiences. The use of my words in traditional letters and greeting cards might bring joy or comfort to someone, and for that I will be ever thankful.

My words have been spoken aloud in speeches and keynote presentations, read silently in countless ways, conveyed in magazines, prayers and poetry and most importantly they have expressed and accomplished that which they set out to do.

When I see raw material that can be rewritten, edited or sculpted with my craft, I am excited and inspired. Taking other people’s websites, stories, papers,  essays or other material and making them something beautiful, expressive, exact, succinct, up to date, catchy, interesting, purposeful and relevant is both science and art.

It is a science in that I must apply the rules of this game. It is an art in the weaving together of words and phrases that make themselves somehow unique. It is a combination of science and art to capture the voice of the person for whom I am working.  This is the polish upon which I pride myself.
